Predaplant gameplay guide

Predaplant gameplay guide

Predator Plants is a deck entirely focused on what are called Predator Counters, used by Yuri in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime. Let's see what these cards have to offer.

This is the latest Predaplant update (January 2026); the previous one is from 222 days ago.

Overview

Overview

Predaplant is an archetype comprising the DARK Plant monsters used by Yuri in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime and manga. This archetype is a sub-branch of the Predap archetype.

Their monsters are primarily based on carnivorous plants, corpse flowers, fungi, and/or plants with bizarre characteristics. In appearance, some "Predaplant" monsters have leaf-like mouths with vine-like appendages resembling hands with thorns for claws and teeth.

Most monster names are a hybrid of an animal and a plant. One of the words used is often a Latin taxonomic name. Some level 5 and higher monsters are named after mythical creatures (chimera, dragon, hydra), and most revealed Fusion Monsters are named after corpse flowers instead of carnivorous plants.

The "Predaplant" playstyle focuses primarily on powerful Fusion Summons to deal damage and area-of-effect destruction, while also using Predator Counters on enemy monsters, turning them into Level 1 Monsters to hinder Ritual, Synchro, and Xyz Summons, and they interact well with your numerous other effects.

For example, Chlamydosundew can Fusion by using monsters from hand and field. We can also use opponent's monsters that contain "counters," and if they have "counters," we can consider them Dark-type monsters.

New Support cards

We'll start with some brand new Predaplant cards.

Send 1 "Predaplant" monster from your Deck to the GY; place 1 Predator Counter on each face-up monster on the field, and if you do, any of those monsters that are Level 2 or higher become Level 1 as long as they have a Predator Counter. If you Fusion Summon a DARK monster while this card is in your GY (except during the Damage Step): You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can only use each effect of "Predaplanning" once per turn.

When it comes to interruptions, it all starts with Predaplanning . This is a trap card that sends any Predator Plant monster from the deck to the graveyard to place a Predator Counter (which this deck relies on) on every monster on the field.

The destroy effect of this card will be explained below.

    Predaplant Dragostapelia (x1)

1 Fusion Monster + 1 DARK monster Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; place 1 Predator Counter on it, and if it is Level 2 or higher, it becomes Level 1 as long as it has a Predator Counter. Negate the activated effects of your opponent's monsters that have Predator Counters.

The trap card I just mentioned works extremely well with Predaplant Dragostapelia . Wait, Dragostapelia? Yeah, that's right, guys, this card was just released.

If any of your opponent's monsters have a "Predator counter" on it, this card will disable its ability.
So, along with Predaplanning , this really becomes a net that disables the entire field of your opponent. And this can also place an additional Predator Counter on an opponent monster if that monster manages to dodge Predaplanning, or if you want to save Predaplanning for later.

1 DARK Fusion Monster + 1 Fusion Monster (This card is always treated as a "Predaplant" card.) Once per turn, when a card or effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 monster on either field with a Predator Counter, and if you do, negate the activation. If this Fusion Summoned card you control is sent to your GY by an opponent's card: You can target 1 DARK monster in your GY; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon" once per turn.

  • Dragostapelia also works very well with Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon , which is a super cool "Omni-negate" card. All he has to do is Tribute a monster with Predator Counter on it, and you are allowed to Tribute your opponent's monster if it has Predator Counter.

  • His Omni-negate is only "Soft once per turn," so he can actually Omni-negate twice if his opponent is foolish enough to discard him in the End Phase.

  • And Predapower also has this: if it's sent to the graveyard by an opponent's card, it can revive itself – theoretically it can revive anything, but it can revive itself.

  • Predaprime Fusion and Predaplanet (x1 each leaf)

You can only use this effect of "Predaplanet" once per turn. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Materials. Only "Predaplant" monsters can be used as Fusion Materials for a Fusion Summon using this effect.

Two cards can use Quick Effect to Fusion during your opponent's turn to trigger the "destroy" effect of Predaplanning 's card.

            • Dragostapelia is pretty powerful, guys. We have a whole bunch of negates, which are activated extremely easily thanks to Predaplanning .

            • Another interesting feature is that Predaplanning, when in the Graveyard, allows you to banish itself to destroy an opponent's card if you perform a Fusion Summon.

            • And we have two cards in the deck: Predaplanet and Predaprime Fusion , which can Quick Effect to Fusion during the opponent's turn to activate the "destruction" effect on the other card.

            • Predaprime can also use your opponent's monsters, but only if you play a Fusion monster that requires 3 materials, like Triphyoverutum , which can negate Special Summons from the Extra Deck. Yeah, another negate.

            • So we not only have a ton of disable options, but also the ability to remove them.

[ Pendulum Effect ] While this card is in your Pendulum Zone, if you Fusion Summon a DARK Fusion Monster, you can also use cards in your Pendulum Zones as monsters on the field, as material for its Fusion Summon. [ Monster Effect ] If this card is sent to the GY or added to your Extra Deck face-up because it was used as Fusion Material: You can choose monsters on the field, up to the number of monsters you control, and place 1 Predator Counter on each one, and if you do, any of those monsters that are Level 2 or higher become Level 1 as long as they have a Predator Counter.

Triantis and Bufolicula are two extremely important new Pendulum cards, serving as the "backbone" for Predaplant's combos.

              1. Role in the Combo (Perfect Pair)

With just Triantis and Bufolicula (or Byblisp to find the missing piece), you can perform a One Card Combo or a Two Card Combo .

              • Predaplant Bufolicula (Frog):

                • Pendulum Effect: Allows you to perform a Fusion Summon instantly using a monster from your hand or field as material.

                • Monster Effect: In the Combo Chain when used as a Fusion material, Bufolicula retrieves a Pendulum Face-up monster from the Extra Deck (usually Triantis) to be reused in the next turn or subsequent moves.

              • Predaplant Triantis:

                • Pendulum Effect: Allows you to use cards in the Pendulum Zones as Fusion materials. This pairs perfectly with Bufolicula: Bufolicula activates Fusion, and Triantis allows you to use these two cards as materials.

                • Monster Effect: When sent to the graveyard as Fusion material, Triantis will place Predator Counters on the number of monsters on the field equal to the number of monsters you control. This is key to activating the effects of Dragostapelia or Chlamydosundew .

              2. Important "Chain Link" Interaction

You can use these two cards to Fusion Summonelides to maximize your advantage:

              1. Chain Link 1: Ampulomelides (Search for the song).

              2. Chain Link 2: Bufolicula (Reclaim Triantis).

              3. Chain Link 3: Triantis (Place Predator Counters on the field).

              3. Deck Build

              • Quantity: I think you should play 3 cards of each type.

              • Reason: Many players only use 2 cards because they think "I won't use them that often." However, you need to maximize your chances of DRAWING them right from the start of the game.

                • Drawing 1 of 3 cards (along with Byblisp) = 1-card Combo.

                • Drawing 2 out of 3 cards = Combo of 2 cards.

              • I disagree with cutting these two cards to make room for Staples cards because the deck needs the stability of the Combo first.

This deck works with the "Predator Prime Invasion" skill, which allows you to reveal any Predaplant monster to search for any Level 8 or Level 1 Predaplant, so it won't let us search for Scorpio.

Therefore, the main starter card in the deck will be Byblisp .

You can only use each effect of "Predaplant Byblisp" once per turn.

This is the remaining starting card in your deck. When Byblisp is sent to the Graveyard, you can add a Predaplant monster from your deck to your hand.

Furthermore, Byblisp can automatically summon itself from the Graveyard if an opponent's monster has Predator Counter . This is one of the key effects for expanding your field, creating more resources, and establishing a stronger position. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card on the field is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect: You can add 1 "Predap" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Predaplant Sarraceniant". You can only use this effect of "Predaplant Sarraceniant" once per turn.

This is the main line of defense of the deck.

Predaplant Sarraceniant is often the reason your opponent can't finish you off quickly, thanks to its ability to automatically summon itself when your opponent attacks directly. If your opponent continues to attack, Sarraceniant will destroy that monster after the battle and allow you to draw a "Predap" card from your deck into your hand when it is destroyed.

Additionally, it can also search for cards if they are sent from the field to the graveyard by card effects, including the effects of Predaplant Ambulomelides and Fusion Spell cards.

Note: You can only activate the card-finding ability if it's used as a Fusion material on the field – if it's used as a Link or XYZ material, the effect won't activate .

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 monster from your hand to the GY; Special Summon 1 "Predaplant" monster from your Deck, except "Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio". You can only use this effect of "Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio" once per turn.

This card allows you to summon a Predaplant monster from your deck by discarding another monster from your hand, quickly creating more "body" on the field to execute combos.

Monsters with a Predator Counter that you use as Fusion Materials are treated as DARK. During your Main Phase: You can Fusion Summon 1 DARK Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using this card on the field and monsters from your hand, field, and/or monsters with a Predator Counter your opponent controls as Fusion Materials. You can only use this effect of "Predaplant Chlamydosundew" once per turn.

This monster is a "softer" version of Super Polymerization .

Predaplant Chlamydosundew 's effect allows you to Fusion use itself and an opponent's monster , provided that monster has Predator Counter . You can still use monsters from your hand or field if you want to expand your material options.

Most Fusion monsters in the Predaplant set require Dark-type monsters as materials. Clamydosundew makes things much easier, as when used to Fusion, it transforms any monster with Predator Counter into a Dark-type monster , regardless of its original type. This allows you to Fusionize to eliminate almost any threat on your opponent's field, regardless of their type.

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand or GY) by Tributing 1 monster on either player's field with a Predator Counter. You can only Special Summon "Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra" once per turn this way. If this card is on the field or in your GY (Quick Effect): You can banish 1 other "Predaplant" monster from your GY, then target 1 face-up monster on the field; it loses 500 ATK. You can only use this effect of "Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra" once per turn.

Skip it and give way to Predaprime Fusion, as both are limited to 1.

Activate this card by targeting 1 "Predaplant" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it and equip it with this card. When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster.

This special equipped spell summons any Predaplant monster from your graveyard, with the drawback that the monster will be destroyed if this card is removed from the field. This is your primary healing card to resummon any of your important Predaplant monsters, including Extra Deck bosses.

                Predapractice

Special Summon 1 "Predaplant" monster from your hand, then add 1 "Predap" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Predapractice", also for the rest of this turn after this card resolves, you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck, except Fusion Monsters. You can only activate 1 "Predapractice" per turn.

Some players don't use this card, but it can be a great expansion tool allowing you to Special Summon another Predaplant monster from your hand to the field after you've used your Normal Summon. It also searches for a "Predap" card from your deck afterward. The downside is that it limits your Extra Deck summons; you can only Special Summon Fusion for the rest of the turn, so it's not the best starting card.

Target 1 "Polymerization" in your GY, and 1 monster in your GY that was used as material for a Fusion Summon; add them to your hand.

All three of these cards can be sought through Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra . Typically, you search for Fusion Recycling Plant to discard a card and then search for Fusion Substitute, which allows you to summon Fusion one more time and then Draw 1 by banishing it from your graveyard (this effect also recycles one of your Fusion monsters). Fusion Recycling Plant also recycles a Fusion material from your graveyard back into your hand at the end of the turn. This is crucial for sustaining long games.

Additionally, you can use Cobra to search for Fusion Recovery to add Polymerization and Fusion materials from your graveyard to your hand. This allows you to summon more Fusion without having to discard, which can be useful if you go behind and need resources. Fusion Recovery can also be searched for via Predaplant Chimerafflesia on the turn after it's sent to the graveyard.

                        Combo

                        A. Safe Playing Style (Anti-Handtrap / Bad Hand)

                        • Situation: Sometimes you'll get a really bad hand that doesn't allow you any combos, or you're afraid your opponent has already drawn Droll & Lock Bird . To handle this, you can try this first move:

                        1. You use your Skill to reveal any Predaplant cards you have to search Byblisp .

                        2. Normal Summon Byblisp .

                        3. Link it to get Linkuriboh .

                        4. Byblisp will activate its effect in the graveyard when sent down to search for Sarraceniant .

I'm about to teach you how to play, but first I need to show you what to do if you don't have a full combo:

                        • Sarraceniant's effect: Sarraceniant's action is that if your opponent's monster declares a direct attack, you Special Summon it to the field, and if your opponent's monster battles this monster, that monster is destroyed. And if this card is destroyed, he can also search for a Predaplant card – any Predaplant card: monster, spell, or trap – which is extremely good for the follow-up move. This will be a way for you to undo yourself, survive, and continue playing.

                        B. One Card Combo

                        • Requirements: All you need at the beginning is Triantis , Byblisp , or Bufolicula the Frog. But Byblisp will be the most important card in this situation.

                        • Perform:

                          1. Activate the Skill, reveal a Predaplant, and make sure you have Byblisp in your hand first, so that's what you'll search for if it's not already in your hand. (If you already have Byblisp in your hand, you'll obviously search for Triantis or Bufolicula).

                          2. Normal Summon Byblisp, Link it to Linkuriboh.

                          3. The Byblisp in the tomb will search for the Pendulum fragment you are missing between Triantis and Bufolicula.

                          4. Activate both Pendulum Scales.

                          5. Activate Bufolicula, which can Fusion Summon using materials from your hand and field (combined with Triantis which allows you to use Pendulum Scale as a material).

                          6. Combine both Pendulum cards to create Ambulomelides . The three effects will create a Chain: Ambulomelides, Bufolicula, and Triantis.

                            • Triantis put Predator Counters on the court.

                            • Bufolicula and Triantis are back in their hands.

                            • Ambulomelides will search for any Predaplant card (usually Predaplanning ).

                          7. Byblisp revives itself from the grave (due to having Counter on the field).

                          8. Activate Ambulomelides to sacrifice Byblisp to summon Darlingtonia Cobra from your deck.

                          9. Darlingtonia Cobra search Fusion Recycling Plant (or Fusion Substitute).

                          10. Activate Fusion Recycling Plant, discard a card to search for Fusion Substitute .

                          11. Activate Triantis in the Scale area again.

                          12. Use Fusion Substitute to fuse Triantis and Cobra to create Greedy Venom Fusion Dragon .

                          13. Triantis activates the Counter ability again, placing it on the field.

                          14. Use Skill (second time) to summon Dragostapelia from the Extra Deck and add Predaprime Fusion to your hand.

                          15. Use Predaprime Fusion (or Predaplanning) to upgrade to Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon, which uses Ambulomelides and Greedy Venom.

                          16. Use Fusion Substitute to return Ambulomelides to the Extra Deck to draw one card.

                          17. Place Predaplanning face down.

                        • Result: You have Omni-negate, Monster Negate (Dragostapelia), the ability to place Counters and destroy cards with Predaplanning, and recovery resources from Fusion Recycling Plant.

                        C. Combo of 2 Cards (2 Cards Combo)

                        • Condition: You need any two cards between Byblisp , Bufolicula , and Triantis .

                        • Instructions: (Similar to the 1-leaf combo but more optimized)

                          1. Use the Search skill to find the missing piece and get all three cards.

                          2. Normal Summon Byblisp, Link to Linkuriboh, Byblisp search Sarraceniant .

                          3. Scale Triantis and Bufolicula. Pendulum Summon Sarraceniant (only this one should be Pendulum-summoned).

                          4. Bufolicula Fusion Summon out Ambulomelides . (Chain: Triantis counters, Bufolicula takes back Triantis, Ambulomelides searches for Predaplanning).

                          5. Ambulomelides sacrificed Sarraceniant to summon Darlingtonia Cobra.

                          6. Cobra searches Fusion Recycling Plant , Sarraceniant (when sacrificed) searches Predaplanning .

                          7. Activate Recycling Plant, discard Predaplanning to search Fusion Substitute.

                          8. The combo continues as above: Summon Greedy Venom, use Skill to summon Drago, and summon Predapower.

                        • Note: Choosing between Predaplanning or Predaprime Fusion to retain depends on whether you want to Fusion manually (Planning) or on the field (Prime).

                        D. Tactics when playing second.

Using Attack Skills: Going second, the Skill section allows you to play Drago. You don't even need to have anything; your opponent just needs to have something. So you can start with Drago, enslaving your opponent's monster, and then add Predaprime to your hand. This helps you dodge Veiler.

                        • Changes in Combo:

                          • In most cases, Ambulomelides will sacrifice Sarraceniant to produce Chlamydosundew instead of Cobra.

                          • Chlamydosundew will treat any monster with Predator Counters as a Dark monster.

                          • Use Chlamydosundew + Linkuriboh + Opponent Monster (in Dark form) to summon Triphyoverutum .

                          • Triphyoverutum increases attack power based on the total attack power of monsters with Counter, potentially reaching 10,000+ ATK.

                          • Greedy Venom reduces the opponent's monster to zero to finish them off.
