Instructions for playing and building Evil Twin ft Spright (Post-Banlist)
Is Spright still worth playing? Still! A spam Engine like that will of course last for a long time on format platforms, but with OCG, pure Spright will be quite weak due to being hit quite heavily with Starter and Jet , and Elf (just got banned)! However, there is still a quite strong version of Spright that will help you get used to the deck easier and is currently quite hot in Master Duel - Spright Evil Twin ! Or vice versa... Small note, Spright is now just like a mercenary, so please take a look!
* Note: With this version, Spright's number of cards is less, so please help out with Evil Twin Spright. That said, this version will lean more towards Evil Twin!
Sections covered in this guide:
Main Monster
As mentioned, there will be more Evil Twins so I will introduce the Evil Twins first!
Evil★Twins Ki-sikil & Lil-la (1-2x)
Evil Twin's main monster, probably after Sunny :v One of our only turn 2 plays, we can summon it from either starter:
Normal Summon Live☆Twin Ki-sikil , Special Summon Live☆Twin Lil-la from the Deck, Link to Evil★Twin Ki-sikil or Evil★Twin Lil-la , Special Summon the monster with the reverse name again in the GY, Link becomes another Evil★Twin, and then Special Summon the first Link from the GY.
Evil ★ Twins Ki-sikil & Lil-la is a 4400 ATK monster with a powerful removal effect, forcing the opponent to dismantle their field. This is especially useful in some matches but is not necessary to win, so use them as you wish.
Sprights
While the first eff of the Core Sprights will summon themselves every time level 2 /rank/link appears (this creates a huge field swarm power with Evil Twin), the most worth mentioning will be the second eff. of them.
- Blue and Jet will help search (Blue is a monster and Jet is a spell/trap)
- Red and Carrot will negate quite often (Red is a monster, and Carrot is a spell/trap). Not to mention, if you sacrifice Link or Rank to negate, you will be allowed to completely destroy that card.
Rate: Blue x1 (hit) ; Jet x1 (hit) ; Red x1-2 ; Carrot x1
However, with the current situation... Spright is only considered a mercenary line so that Evil Twin can have more balanced bodies.
Spell & Trap
Spright Starter and Spright Smashers (Spright Spell)
The special feature of these Spells is that they are all Quick-Play Spells, so their activation speed and strategy are quite high.
- Starter is mainly used to Summon Blue onto the field to connect your combo to Gigantic. If your starting hand reaches the Starter, you can have just one more round of Normal Summon to connect the combo after reaching your boss (quite a crack because you simply have to special summon until you see It is also possible to satisfy the following r normal).
- Smashers are often added as an option to make your final set safer and more reliable ( banishes monsters from both sets ).
Secret Password (0-3x)
Add a Live ☆ Twin Spell or Trap from our Deck to the hand or Evil ★ Twins Ki-sikil & Lil-la if we control both "Ki-sikil" and "Lil-la" monsters. A simple consistent card, we will want to play as many copies as possible.
This is also a good option to compensate for Spright, making the deck more consistent. If you can't get access to anything (Spright or Evil Twin) then you might have a better option to go into your combo. However, the only weakness of every card is the handtrap :v
Live☆Twin Sunny's Snitch (3x)
Another consistent card that can add any of our starters from the Deck to the hand, as well as increase damage and LP by a very small amount, which can be important in a long Duel. Like Secret Password , this is a consistent free card so we will need to play as much as possible.
Live☆Twin Home (1-3x)
This will be an even better option than Password, because it can directly bring a Lil-la or Ki-sikii onto the field and quickly access the Evil Twins ( note that after using it, it will lock you into the Evil Twin). , so it's very difficult to use Spright). It would be best to play Spright's turns first and then this card.
On the other hand, this is a Quick-play, meaning you can easily bring your body onto the field during opp's turn to cause trouble or defend. This will be a good turn 1 card to have a body for Sprights to use their effects.
Tech
Kaijus
Take care of problem bosses, whether it's the True King of All Calamities , Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess or Borreload Savage Dragon . The Kaiju will be there to save the day, or destroy it. Gadarla is a valuable pick due to its Rare level as well as its WIND Attribute, allowing it to sacrifice Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds , a card that can only be played in Lyrilusc decks.
Forbidden Droplet and Enemy Controller (Something no one expected...)
On turn 2, you can use these cards when you summon your Live☆Twin monster to counter your opponent's targeted cards. When they use Infinite Impermanence , use Forbidden Droplet , sending your own Live ☆ Twin to negate some of their monsters, while being able to summon another Live ☆ Twin. Since you have no monsters on the field after this point, the effect of another Live ☆ Twin Monster can activate and allow you to summon another one from the Deck! While E-con does the same thing, you can Tribute your Live ☆ Twin to steal your opponent's monster and Summon another Live ☆ Twin from the Deck, then you can use your monster opponent to summon Link! Ha! And you'd think that a staple that only uses Duel Links wouldn't be useful in other formats!
Extra Deck
Evil★Twin Lil-la and Evil★Twin Ki-sikil (Evil Twins)
The main Link monsters and the ladies behind Live ☆ Twin. Both have effects that trigger when they are Summoned while the remaining cards are on the field. If you Summon Evil★Twin Ki-sikil while you have Evil★Twin Lil-la on the field, you can draw one card, whereas, if you Summon Lil-la while you have Ki-sikil, you can target and destroy a card on the field. They can also revive monsters with the opposite name ("Ki-sikil" or "Lil-la") as a quick effect if you do not control a monster with that name. This allows us to use Evil ★ Twin Lil-la as an interruption during our opponent's turn.
Note that you are locked into Fiends the turn you use one of these Links' revival effects. Therefore, care should be taken when using them with Spright!
Tip : Always let Spright activate eff before Evil Twin!
Evil★Twin's Trouble Sunny (1-2x)
In addition to the big damage, Sunny can make the Evil Twins under GY resurface to trigger their own effs. The simple mechanism will cause chaos for opp and help them continuously summon bodies to the field + Effect of sending cards to GY => Solid defense!
In addition, since Elf is banned, you will want to have more Sunny in your Deck for the purpose of easily raising Evil Twin...
Spright Sprind, Gigantic Spright and Spright Elf (Sprights)
Spright's Core Extra Deck includes only Elf and Gigantic. While the summoning conditions of both can be regardless of card type (Link, Xyz, Effect, Synchro, Fusion,...) as long as they are level 2/rank/link ; then their main eff will be the field swarm with only lvl regardless of which archetype the monster belongs to => Activate Evil Twin's eff.
However, Elf has just been banned , leading to the only card that can use the effect well now is Gigantic... A rather sad thing, leading to the loss of Deck continuity. However, Evil Twin can still make up for that imbalance with Sunny.
In addition, with Sprind, it helps you make the most of Gigantic => A good interrupt card in opp's turn!
Masquerena squad
I:P with Knightmare Links can cause you some extra interruptions during your opponent's turn. Knightmare Link are also just great Extra Deck monsters in general, that can be played in almost any deck with their awesome effects.
Additionally, since the Evil★Twins themselves are quite selfish, the Knightmare will come in handy when the Evil★Twins lock your Extra Deck with only Fiends .
As for the I:P part, you can use this card to go to any Link you want to end the game right in the opp turn. Remember to time it right because this card only limits you to Main Phase 1!
Link 4
Because you will be locked into Link 2 only by the Starter you have, but the fact that it is banned and there is only 1 card in the Deck will make it obvious that you want to access other Links more. Therefore, stack a few more cards mentioned above to end the game faster with the I:P combo and the above cards!
Underworld Goddess of the Closed World (A guaranteed way to end your opponent's turn or disrupt their field formation)
Underworld Goddess of the Closed World is a great Link Monster for the deck. Can Link your opponent's monster away, simultaneously negating their entire field AND preventing them from summoning it from the Graveyard. You can even do it during your opponent's turn with I:P Masquerena , which will usually almost guarantee they just make it to the End Phase.
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder, Downerd Magician and Sky Cavalry Centaurea (Xyz Package)
On your turn 2, if it's too risky to Link into Evil★Twin, you can go into Sky Cavalry Centaurea to return your opponent's monster to your hand, while continuing to go into Downerd Magician and then Divine Arsenal AA -ZEUS - Sky Thunder to get a free field wipe.
Combo
The combo this time will be a bit different because Elf is banned , as you know, it will be difficult for the combo to continue because it is interrupted for a long time so um...
Combo #1
As mentioned, Elf has been banned so Evil Twin's 1-card combo will be difficult to use. You will want to use another Extender, maybe from Spright or Evil Twin. Here I will use Sprights to make Extenders!
- Normal Lil-la or Ki-sikil => summons their opposite
- Put 1 Spright as an Extender on the field, for example here, I will use Blue => Put another Spright in hand => take Carrot or Red depending on the situation
- Summon Spright just picked up
- Xyz uses only Ki-sikil and Blue to go to Gigantic
- Gigantic activates the effect to bring Jet to the field, drops Ki-sikil as a material on GY => Search Starter or Smasher
- Link out to I:P using the remaining Jet and Spright (important because if you forget, you will be locked into Fiend and cannot go to I:P)
- Link Evil Twin Lil-la uses Gigantic and Lil-la is now on the field => puts Ki-sikil back on the field
- Link Evil Twin Ki-sikil uses Evil Twin Lil-la and Ki-sikil is on the field => puts Evil Twin Lil-la back on the field
- Set Starter or Smasher, depending on what you choose
Stage setup: We will have I:P , Evil Twin Ki-sikil , Evil Twin Lil-la and Starter or Smasher to interrupt opp's turn
Knightmare Corruptor Iblee (Combo #2)
This combo will help you lock opp into special summoning Link first, which will help you avoid a lot of interruptions and negates. In general, the usage is similar to combo #1, but with a slight change in step 2 , you will want to get Jet in your hand and in step 5 , Gigantic will bring Iblee onto the field so you can Link to I:P and use it. Use Iblee 's effects!
Sample deck
overview
The powers of Spright and Evil Twin will complement each other very well :v until both are banned, they can still help each other survive!
Hopefully through this article, you will understand a little more about Spright as well as Evil Twin behind the banlist so you can build yourself a delicious Deck to compete in tournaments - avoid having to buy expensive cards and then get stuck. banlist and had to sadly put it away...
